Front row tix to KC Current, 2-night stay at Crossroads Hotel & more!
I’ve always believed the best way to celebrate a story is to make it an experience. I can’t believe I’m saying this… but with my micro film series The UNBecoming premiering at Screenland Armour on October 22nd (pinch me, I’m still in disbelief, you can grab tickets here) I wanted to mark the occasion by giving someone the ultimate Kansas City weekend.
Ultimate as in a 2-night stay at my favorite hotel (plus $150 food & bev credit), front row seats to a local game, 2 tickets to see my film & uber credit to get you here-there-and everywhere.
Now here’s the itinerary for one lucky winner (& their plus one):
Friday: Check-In at Crossroads Hotel (2-night stay + $150 F&B credit)
Your weekend begins at Crossroads Hotel, the anchor of Kansas City’s creative district. Industrial brick & steel bones meet modern warmth—it feels like the city itself: rooted, reimagined, alive. I’ve stayed here a dozen times, licked my plate clean at Lazia (& Percheron) & sipped A+ cocktails while playing pool in the lounge.
After checking into your room (yes, it’s yours for two nights), you’ll have a $150 food & beverage credit to enjoy across the hotel’s gems:
XR — the sultry neighborhood bar perfect for your first sip, snack or game of pool.
Lazia — Italian dining with heart. Think: wagyu carpaccio, mafaldine alla vodka, chicken parmesan, and a raspberry mocha tiramisu, wheww. The way I just drooled on my keyboard…
Percheron — the rooftop bar with city views that stretch forever, where the skyline feels like a living postcard.
Drop your bags, grab a drink at XR, & settle in for dinner at Lazia. OH, & I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the Mozzarella Madam. This chef brings the personality & entertainment tableside with her curd stretching that’s paired with a seasonal, vibrant salad.
Saturday: Match Day at KC Current (2 front row tickets)
Wake up slow, then step right outside into the Crossroads Arts District where murals spill across brick walls & creativity hums from every corner. Pick your adventure: lounge around the hotel before preparing for the big treat of the day, a KC Current game, or swing by some of my favorite coffee + breakfast stops nearby:
Messenger Coffee — sustainable coffee roasters with goodies from Ibis Bakery
Mildred’s — a staple known for its “Standard Breakfast Sandwich”
Café Corazón — Kansas City's first Latin + Indigenous coffee house
After wandering the skreets of Crossroads & sipping coffee, head back to the hotel, refresh, & maybe grab a snack (or two) from XR; I recommend the junk drawer pie—as the name suggests, it has a bit of everything. Full ingredient list includes roasted onion, shishito peppers, pomodoro, oyster mushrooms, black olives, italian sausage & pepperoni.
Yeaaah, definitely get that.
From there, hop on the KC Streetcar, your direct line to the riverfront. The destination: KC Current vs. Gotham FC. Few things currently match the energy of a Current soccer game in this city (see what I did there *wink, wink*). Grab a libation & take in the beauty of the stadium before heading to your seat.
And you won’t be seated in the nose bleeds but up front in personal in Row 1, Seats 5 & 6. Fast forward past the high-energy, adrenaline-pumping game & you’re back at the hotel, you can call it an early night… or keep the evening rolling:
Sip gin at Tom’s Town Distillery.
Slide into the velvet-lit glow of Green Lady Lounge.
Try a local pint at Casual Animal Brewing.
Or disappear underground at Swordfish Tom’s—a KC speakeasy favorite.
Sunday: Slow Morning + Sendoff
Sleep in. Have breakfast at the hotel. Let the city hold you one last time before checkout.
The Encore (2 tickets to see my film at Screenland Armour)
Less than two weeks later, you’ll return for a different kind of Kansas City night: The UNBecoming premieres on the big screen at Screenland Armour. All six parts—woven together for the first time as a complete story.
To sweeten it, Armour is adding a $25 gift card, so popcorn, cocktails, or a few concessions are on the house. I’ll be working with Screenland on a few special treats for the evening ;)
How to Enter
One weekend. Two nights. A $150 dining credit. Front row KC Current tickets. A $25 Screenland Armour gift card. And my film premiere. All of the entry details are on the ‘gram.
Sometimes the best way to celebrate a story is to live one.
Good luck!
