For much of my life, I thought becoming meant building. Adding. Perfecting. If I could control every detail, keep every part of myself polished, maybe I could protect myself. Maybe I could prove my worth.
But control only held me tighter
Every overly curated Instagram reel that went viral, every onboarding meeting for the next up-and-coming product, every check from a big-box brand …they all looked like growth, but often left me hollow. I found myself stuck in cycles that looked like achievement but felt like imprisonment.
It was only when I began to unbecome, to shed the layers of control, identity, & expectation I had carried that I started to find true freedom. Was that work easy? Hell no. Confronting the imperfections, the lies I told to myself, the illusions I built to feel safe was a daunting process of unraveling.
That unraveling became The UNBecoming, a six-part microfilm series. But the truth is, the films were only the beginning.
The Reset
This 6-week UNBecoming Reset is the most personal extension of the series I’ve ever shared. My pain, my grief, my loss & ultimately my return, acceptance, & power alchemized into a guided program that might serve others in their own journeys.
It’s not a traditional course. It’s not about hustling toward self-improvement or forcing transformation. Instead, it’s a companion. A spark. A way to take the cinematic arc of the films and turn it inward, into your own life.
Act I. The Unbecoming
Week 1, Stuck — recognizing inertia, the cages we build around ourselves
We all know the feeling of being trapped. Whether it’s in maladaptive behaviors, perfectionism, or versions of ourselves that no longer fit. Sometimes it looks like procrastination, sometimes it’s overcommitment, & sometimes it’s just that heavy, invisible weight you can’t quite name. In Stuck, we’ll pause long enough to notice where we’ve been circling the same ground, acknowledge the walls we’ve built for safety, & gently ask ourselves if they still serve us.What Week 1 entails:
A reflection that reveals the hidden comfort of your cages
Journaling prompts that invite you to name the walls you’ve built & why they’ve stayed
A ritual of stillness: practicing the art of pausing, even when it feels unbearable
Week 2, Control — the illusion of safety through perfection & grip
Control convinces us that if we can polish every detail, tighten every string, & predict every outcome, then we’ll finally be safe. But the truth is, control often becomes another kind of prison. It can rob us of joy, spontaneity, & trust in ourselves. In Control, we’ll examine the ways perfectionism has shielded us, the costs of clinging too tightly, & the relief that comes from loosening our grip. What Week 2 entails:
A reflection on the cost of perfectionism, performance, & chasing external validation
An illuminating “control inventory” to uncover the places where your grip has become a cage
A ritual of imperfection: leaving something deliberately undone & learning to sit in the relief of its incompletion
Week 3, Death — the grief of letting go; the burial of what no longer serves
Some endings don’t come with flowers, condolences, or a casket. They come quietly, in the recognition that who we’ve been can’t carry us forward. Death in the process of unbecoming is not about the body, but about identity. The roles, beliefs, & stories we must lay to rest. In Death, we’ll honor what once kept us alive, grieve what we’ve outgrown, & create space for something new to take root. What Week 3 entails:
A reflection on grief, endings, & the quiet power of symbolic death
A writing practice: penning a farewell letter to the self or story you’ve outgrown
A ritual of release: burning, burying, or tearing as an act of closure & rebirth
Act II. The Unbecoming [REDACTED]
PT IV. thru VI. — PT IV. debuts Saturday, September 27th at 8:30 PM CST
The second half of the Reset will unfold alongside Act II of The UNBecoming [REDACTED]
The series tells my story, but the truths inside it are universal.
Each week includes:
A personal reflection, drawn from my lived experience
A prompt or practice to explore in your life
An optional ritual: small, symbolic acts to bring the work into the body
An audio companion (my voice reading the reflection), so you can listen as well as read
At the end, you’ll also receive a PDF guide collecting everything into one place. Something you can revisit whenever life calls you back into unbecoming.
Subscriber Note
Building this Reset required deep intention, effort, & alchemy. It will only be available to paid subscribers. For less than the cost of a cup of coffee each month, you not only gain access to the full 6-week Reset, but you also support the work that makes projects like The UNBecoming possible.
If the series has moved you, this is your invitation to step inside it. To move from watching into doing. To let the films not only tell a story, but spark your own.
The journey begins soon. I’d love for you to join me.
