I made a movie—and yes, it’s premiering in a real theatre (and you’re invited)

From my living room to the big screen, premiering October 22nd at 6 PM in Kansas City.

When you get a comment asking if you want to premiere your debut piece at a real theatre… you hop on it, no questions asked.

A few weeks ago, Adam Roberts, Co-Owner of Screenland Armour Theatre, dropped a comment under the trailer for The UNBecoming. He asked “When we screening????” For a second, I thought it was a prank. Me? A theatre? A premiere?? MEeeEEEee???

But it was real. And I said yes before I could even think twice.

It’s hard to describe what that moment meant. I’ve poured everything I have into this project: my joy, my grief, my uncertainty, my healing. Literal blood, sweat & tears. The UNBecoming started as a private experiment, a series of short, cinematic reflections on what it means to shed the versions of ourselves that no longer fit. I filmed most of it alone, with a cheap tripod, a camera I hadn’t recorded on in years, & a thousand emotions I didn’t have words for yet.

Fast-forward to now: we’re days away from watching it unfold on a theatre screen.

It’s fu***** wild.

Now, I owe you all an apology for the delay in this week’s Substack (The UNBecoming Reset will return soon, I promise). Every spare moment has gone into getting this premiere ready: reshoots, color grading, rendering, re-rendering, & somewhere in between, remembering to hydrate.

Truthfully, I haven’t even filmed the final episode yet. But that feels right. The UNBecoming has always been a work in progress. Much like me. And maybe that’s the point. This isn’t just a screening; it’s a closing ritual for a chapter that’s been rewriting me from the inside out.

On Wednesday, October 22nd at 6 pm, The UNBecoming will premiere at Screenland Armour Theatre in Kansas City… damn, it’s really happening.

Now, back to the night of the screening! After the film, we’ll gather for a short Q&A. Nothing formal. Just an open space to talk about the process, the lessons, & whatever this project stirs up for you.

Ask me anything, or simply share how it made you feel.

And because The UNBecoming has always lived beyond the screen, I’ll be bringing two of its physical installations into the theatre including Take What You Need.

What if you heard the word you were dying to hear?

In the process of unbecoming, I’ve realized just how many layers of myself have sought validation, affirmation, & acceptance. Versions of me that longed to be forgiven, that held a heart full of anger, that wanted to be seen, chosen, or simply told I was enough.

A huge thank you to Adam Roberts, whose generosity & belief made this moment possible. He’s not just lending a screen; he’s giving space to a story that was born out of stillness & struggle. We’ve also cooked up a few collaborative surprises, including a small nod to my influencer roots. My viral GSVR flavor combo (garlicky, salt, vinegar & ranch) is officially making a comeback… this time, as popcorn seasoning.

This is your formal invite to witness my unbecoming & maybe, to begin your own.

Expect a lot of heart, a few tears, & hopefully a bit of release.

To me, this night isn’t just about film. It’s about transformation. It’s about finally letting the past version of myself, the one who lived for validation, applause, & metrics, take a bow & exit stage left.

What comes next feels uncertain, but it feels true. It feels aligned. And it feels real.

If you’ve been following this journey, if you’ve ever felt stuck or in need of a reset, I hope you’ll join me. For those walking beside me from afar, I’ve included a quiet offering, a short teaser from Part V: Void.

Consider it a doorway into what’s coming next.
